Hello from sunny Saltburn!
My big writing news is that I currently have a brand new author website, which can be found here. It was designed by Jason Smith of Marketing for Authors, and I absolutely love it! This means that all the information about my books and writing projects can be found in one place. If you visit, you’ll notice it has a blog page, where I plan to post slightly different updates to the ones I share here. Maybe I’ll post seem actual creative writing!
It’s quite a busy time at Book Corner, with three separate author events coming up over the next two weeks. Firstly, we have another book launch with the lovely Em Lynas this Saturday (12th April). Em will be signing copies of her new picture book, The Bear and the Hare and the Fair (illustrated by Matt Hunt) from 1pm - 3pm. There’ll be a free kids’ craft activity, too! See our new window display above, created with lots of help from Em.
We have another picture book event on Thursday 17th April, when Max Wrigley will be calling in to sign copies of Sammy the Seagull. He’ll also have goodie bags for sale! You can meet him in the bookshop from 1pm - 2.30pm.
Thirdly, something a little different for Book Corner! On Friday 25th April, we’ll be hosting a drop-in history day with John Sadler and Beverley Palin. John Sadler has a lifelong interest in military history, and has written more than 40 books about a variety of historical periods.
John and fellow historian and re-enactor Beverley will be promoting two of his recent books: Eric Bloodaxe the Viking and The Hot Trod: A History of the Anglo-Scottish Border. There’ll be readings from Beowulf and a handling collection of artifacts, and they’ve promised to do all this in full period kit! Come along to the bookshop between 11am - 3pm.
Finally, a quick reminder about my latest novel, The Hometown Bookshop. I’m currently planning some launch events, and I hope to be able to share news about these soon. But in the meantime, you can pre-order copies of the book from all the usual outlets, including my own website here. If you order directly from me, I’ll sign and stamp the book for you.
Happy reading!
Jenna
